July 2023 has seen a change of ownership for Tairua Steelcraft, and with it comes a fresh take and a new identity - Alted Engineering. The skill and expertise of Craig will remain within the business, and are now joined by owner and mechanical design engineer Bennet Gage-Brown.
Coupled with Bennet's 20+ years in heavy transport and machine design, our team can deliver fit-for-purpose design services with 3D SOLIDWORKS modeling software.

Welcome to Bennet Gage-Brown
Tairua Steelcraft's new owner, Bennet Gage-Brown, is an experienced mechanical design engineer. Having led the design office at TRT and with 20 years heavy transport engineering under his belt, Bennet specialises in the bespoke design of heavy transport equipment, including cranes, trailers, and specialised vehicles.
With a wealth of accumulated knowledge and skills, Bennet has worked on projects including:
18, 24, 30m insulated EWPs design for glove and barrier live line work
10t truck mounted crane with auger borer attachments
28t pick and carry articulated crane, fully compliant for use in Australia and New Zealand
Various low loader transporters
Bennet's extensive industry experience will benefit all clients of Alted Engineering and ensure the continued delivery of successful projects. Bennet is committed to process improvement, timely delivery and responsive communication.
Hailing from Patetonga, Hauraki Plains, and studying at the University of Waikato, Bennet and his wife Jacqui had been holidaying regularly in Tairua for a number of years before relocating there in 2019 with their three boys.
