At Alted Engineering, we’re all about turning bold ideas into reality. So when a local Mercedes-Benz G300 Professional owner approached us with a vision for a rugged, functional workhorse, we knew this was our kind of project—challenging, bespoke, and seriously cool.
The Brief: Tough, Functional, and Built to Last
The goal? To transform this G300 Professional (the truck version of the legendary G-Wagon) into a heavy-duty utility vehicle that meets New Zealand heavy vehicle regulations while keeping the iconic G300 aesthetic.
The Build: From Concept to Reality
Bennet, with 20+ years of truck and trailer design expertise, took detailed measurements before stripping down the existing deck and crafting an entirely new setup from the ground up.
✔ Custom tipper deck with subframe
✔ Certified load restraints for secure transport
✔ Sturdy, custom-designed runner board steps for easy access
✔ Shiplap hardwood decking for durability and style
✔ Riveted fold-down sides to maintain the G300’s rugged look
✔ Winch and winch mounting for serious pulling power
Precision Fabrication & Attention to Detail
Craig (our senior engineer) applied his fabrication expertise and meticulous attention to detail ensured every weld, fit, and finish met our highest standards. Once fabrication was complete:
✅ The deck and subframe were sent for Duratec powder coating
✅ The truck cab got a full respray, swapping out the original red for a sleek matte olive finish
✅ The hydraulics and electrical systems were fitted and commissioned
The Final Result
This custom G300 is now purpose-built to handle tough jobs, perfectly suited for its new life on a Tairua farm. Built for performance, durability, and function, it’s a true example of how smart engineering and fabrication can elevate a vehicle to the next level.
