Engineering Strength Meets Coastal Style
A show home is more than just a display—it’s a statement of craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail. At Alted Engineering, we’re proud to be part of the team bringing Landmark Homes’ new Whitianga show home to life, providing the structural steel that will support this stunning build.
Precision in Action: Installing the Floating Steel Staircase
One of the key features of this show home is its floating steel staircase, designed to blend seamlessly with the modern coastal aesthetic. But installing a staircase of this scale comes with its challenges—especially when a crane isn’t an option on-site.
The solution? Smart rigging and teamwork. Our crew used two 500kg chain blocks, carefully lifting the staircase into position within the stairwell void. Once in place, we:
✅ Levelled and centred the staircase for a flawless fit
✅ Fastened it securely to the wall and concrete floor to meet engineering specifications
✅ Protected the newly painted surface until the final build phase is complete
The staircase will soon be wrapped in solid timber treads and finished with a glass balustrade system, delivering a sleek, high-end look while maintaining structural integrity.
Why Structural Steel?
For homes like this, where design meets durability, structural steel plays a critical role. It allows for open, airy spaces with minimal visual obstructions—perfect for a home that maximises its incredible Whitianga views.
A Team Effort
Working with Landmark Homes and local contractors ensures every element of the project meets the highest standards. We love collaborating on builds that showcase smart engineering and superior craftsmanship.
